Question:270 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the current position regarding the inclusion of 900 smaller vessels on the register. [2059/98]
Written Answers. - Fishing Vessels Register.
A special scheme had been developed, with the approval of the European Commission, to regularise the position of a substantial number of mainly small vessels in the fishing fleet which, for various reasons, have not been formally licensed or registered. The issuing of decisions on applications under this scheme for sea fishing boat licences will commence shortly. The owner of any vessel in respect of which a licence is granted may apply to have it entered on the fishing vessels register.
