Ahern asked the Minister for Defence if he will provide details of the recruitment into the Defence Forces in the last ten years, giving the year of each recruitment group; the numbers recruited; the numbers who resigned, left or were sacked within the first three months in each batch; the number of each batch still in employment; if he will make a statement on the manner of recruitment; his views on whether recruits from areas of high army families were not recruited to the same extent in recent years resulting in high fall out rates; and if significant changes have been made for 1998 recruitment.
