Ahern asked the Minister for Defence the number of members of the Defence Forces that are in medical category C; the number of these on sick leave for over one month; if he will give an analysis of the duration of time on sick leave; if he will give details of the process of regrading to category E; when this should occur; if it is after a set period of absence; if it depends on the individual medical officer; the number of 338 category C personnel who were given VER in 1997; and the number out sick for more than three months in 1996.
