John Perry

Question:

423 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will release the relevant payments to a person (details supplied) in view of the fact that a decision has been made by his father regarding the sole beneficiary. [1392/98]

The person named is not the registered owner of the herd number quoted.

At an on-farm inspection of this herd on 11 November 1997 and from subsequent documentation it appears that the registered owner is resident in America. He is not, therefore, eligible for grants under the 1997 cattle headage scheme. His position with regard to payments under previous years headage schemes is now being reviewed and payment of any 1997 suckler cow premium grants is being withheld pending the outcome of that review.
