Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

456 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will have his REP scheme plan accepted in view of the fact that he submitted this to his Department in March 1997. [1825/98]

This application is one of a number which include grazing rights on a large estate in County Mayo.

Under the terms and conditions of the REP scheme aid cannot be paid on grazing rights which are not registered in the applicant's name unless the rights can be converted into a definite area entitlement. The applicant was requested by my Department on 27 November 1997 to clarify his legal entitlements on this estate. To date no response has been received.
