Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Designation Status.

Michael Ring

Question:

515 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to consider east Mayo for special tax designation status. [1860/98]

I have no plans to consider east Mayo for special tax designation status. As I announced in my budget speech, I am examining the feasibility of a pilot rural renewal initiative which would apply in parts of the upper Shannon region. Any such scheme will need to be discussed with the EU Commission.
