Question:

524 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Finance if a change of use is imminent for a customs post or part of a customs post in County Donegal; if it can be made available for use by organisations (details supplied) in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2106/98]

Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Cullen):

I am not in a position to say if the customs post at Muff or part of it can be made available for use by other organisations in the future. It will continue to be required by the Revenue Commissioners — Customs and Excise — until a scheme of works has been carried out at their Bridge End site. It is hoped that these works will be completed by the end of 1998.

If the property is not required by any other Department, the Commissioners of Public Works will give every consideration to the needs of the Red Cross and the local development organisation, and will contact them at that stage to advise them of the position.
