540 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals for legislation being prepared under the auspices of his Department where heads have not been approved to date by Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1113/98]

Proposals for legislation being prepared under the auspices of my Department, where heads have not been approved by Government are as follows: amendment of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 is under consideration at present; proposals to establish an eastern regional health authority to replace the Eastern Health Board are at an advanced stage of preparation; the Adoption Contact Register Bill; The Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and International Co-operation in respect of Intercountry Adoption Bill; The Nursing Bill, and the Statutory Registration of Certain Designated Health and Social Professions Bill.
