The Freedom of Information Act, 1997 comes into effect on 21 April 1998 for the Department of Health and Children, the Blood Transfusion Service Board, Comhairle na nOspidéal, and the Irish Medicines Board; and on 21 October 1998 for each of the eight health boards.
