79 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the legislative reforms to expand the powers of the Ombudsman as announced recently at the national conference of the Institute of Public Administration. [19434/97]
As Deputies will be aware the Government has committed itself, in An Action Programme for the Millennium, to expanding the remit of the Ombudsman. Legislative proposals to that end are at present being examined in my Department and will be brought forward in due course.
