715 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the Acts and provisions of Acts which are not in force due to the fact that a commencement order has not been made; whether an order will be made, if so, when; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1086/98]
The only such Act for which I am responsible is the National Cultural Institutions Act, 1997. The principal objective of this Act is to accord the National Museum of Ireland and the National Library of Ireland autonomy in accordance with the provisions of Part II of that Act. Work is ongoing in my Department and in the institutions so as to enable this part of the Act to be brought into force efficiently and effectively. The other provisions in the Act either have been or will be brought into force as required and as appropriate.
