716 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposed statutory instruments being prepared in or under the auspices of her Department; the proposed effect of each; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1101/98]
A draft Statutory Instrument is being prepared to implement Council Directive No. 97/62/EC of 27 October 1997, adapting to technical and scientific progress Council Directive No. 92/43/EEC of 21 May 1992 on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora, known as the Habitats Directive. The new directive replaces Annexes I and II of the Habitats Directive and the proposed Statutory Instrument will implement it by means of an amendment to the European Communities (Habitats Directive) Regulations, 1997.
