Question:

740 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will provide a list of the current states which are parties to The Hague Convention on taking evidence abroad; the implications of Ireland becoming a party to it; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1772/98]

The following states are parties to The Hague Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters: Argentina, Australia, Barbados, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States and Venezuela. The question of Ireland's adherence to the Convention has been considered by the Law Reform Commission. The recommendations of the Commission are contained in its Report No. 16, 1985.
