Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Directives Implementation.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

831 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science the EU, ECSC or EURATOM directives wholly or partly under the auspices of his Department that are not fully implemented; the subject, date and reference number of each; the date on which implementation is or was due; the proposed mode of implementation, that is, a Bill or a Statutory Instrument; when it is proposed to implement the directive in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1074/98]

EU Directive 97/38 EC is awaiting transposition into Irish law. The directive amends Annex C to Council Directive 92/51/EEC on a second general system for the recognition of professional education and training to supplement Council Directive 89/48/EEC. It is anticipated that this directive will be transposed into Irish law in the near future. Directive 92/51/EEC was transposed into Irish law in May 1996.
