Vol. 486 No. 3

Written Answers. - Weekend Voting.

Denis Naughten

Question:

222 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the steps, if any, he has taken to introduce weekend voting; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2743/98]

Electoral and referendum law provides that any day of the week may be appointed as polling day. It is therefore a matter for decision on each occasion which day of the week should be appointed for the taking of the poll.
