Vol. 486 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Dan Neville

Question:

242 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the current position regarding the registration of title submitted to the Land Registry Office on 8 May 1995 for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and the planned date for completion of the registration. [2413/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Titles Act, 1964. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process.

I am informed that queries have been raised in this case which have been put to the applicant's solicitor on 26 January 1998. These queries must be satisfactorily discharged before the matter can proceed. Finally, I can confirm that the Land

Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.

Michael Creed

Question:

243 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will expedite a dealing (details supplied) in the Land Registry Office. [2414/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing has been expedited and will be completed within the next two weeks.
