Vol. 486 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

John Browne

Question:

249 Mr. Browne (Wexford): asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason a transfer of land has not been completed for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of this person being told by Land Registry six weeks ago that it had been. [2531/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application was completed on 15 January 1998.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

250 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department will expedite the application of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal to register ownership of a folio (details supplied) in view of the age of the person concerned and her anxiety to have this matter concluded. [2532/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 21 October 1997. I undertand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process.

I can confirm that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
