93 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the research programme on the criminal justice system his Department has established following the research study carried out by the ESRI; if he will publish the ESRI report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. One of the main recommendations of the ESRI report was the establishment in my Department of a research unit with responsibility for policy planning which would include procuring and utilising research. The unit which comprises officers from each of the main policy divisions in the Department is currently identifying research projects for commissioning as quickly as possible. Copies of the ESRI report have been placed in the Oireachtas Library.
