Vol. 487 No. 3

Written Answers. - Salmonella Outbreaks.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

145 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason his Department did not inform the owners of a premises (details supplied) of the results of an examination by the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland into the source of a salmonella outbreak in May 1997; if this information will now be forwarded to the proprietors; and the action, if any, his Department proposes to take to rectify this matter. [4000/98]

The matter referred to by the Deputy is primarily one for the North-Western Health Board. I understand that they have been in contact with the owners of the premises in question regarding the outbreak and its likely causes.

I have written directly to the Deputy on this matter in November 1997.
