Vol. 487 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

146 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will have arrangements made for a partial payment of sheep and headage subsidies to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim in view of the figures that are on the register in his Department and this person is under severe financial pressure to repay his debts; the reason for the delay in payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4001/98]

Following an inspection of the flock of the person named, he was deemed ineligible for payment under the 1997 ewe premium and sheep headage schemes as he did not have the number of sheep on which he made application. Under the Charter for Rights for farmers he appealed this decision. He will be notified of the outcome of the appeal by the appeals unit as soon as possible.
