Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - International Financial Services Centre.

Willie Penrose

Question:

47 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance if he will give an estimate of the contribution to national income of services rendered and income earned in the IFSC; the way in which this is assessed; and if he will make a statement on the extent and nature of transfer pricing in the centre. [5565/98]

I am informed by the Central Statistics Office that no separate estimate is made by the CSO of the contribution of the IFSC in calculating gross national product.

On the question of transfer pricing, I am not aware that this represents a problem in the IFSC. All operations in the centre are subject to a very tight certification and regulatory regime with the aim of ensuring that the highest possible standards apply.
