Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Planning Applications.

Conor Lenihan

Question:

236 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his views on whether there is a need for fast-track procedure for large scale developments submitted to local authorities for planning permission. [6363/98]

One of the core aims of the comprehensive review of planning legislation which I initiated last August is to ensure that the Irish planning system delivers a high quality service. As part of my examination of the system I am considering what measures, if any, are necessary to ensure that our planning system facilitates major inward investment, and does not become uncompetitive in relation to planning regimes in other countries.
