68 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he will introduce the independent parole and remission board as promised in An Action Programme for the Millennium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6696/98]

A parole board will be provided for in the legislation dealing with the establishment of a prison authority, which forms part of the Government's legislative programme. Work is progressing on the preparation of this legislation.
