323 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the position in relation to the provision of a new art centre in Newbridge, County Kildare; the costing for this included in her Department's 1998 budget; and the commencement date for the project. [7020/98]
An offer of £400,000 in principle has been made to Kildare County Council towards the development of an arts facility at the Kildare Library and Arts Centre, Newbridge, under the cultural development incentive scheme, CDIS, which is being administered by my Department as part of the operational programme for tourism 1994-99.
The offer has been made subject to specified conditions relating to the completion of the project and its subsequent operation and I am awaiting confirmation from the promoters that these conditions can be met in full.
