Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Bus Parking Facilities.

Jim Higgins

Question:

357 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason Bus Éireann coaches were allowed full access to parking facilities while private coaches were excluded at the recent passing out ceremony at the Garda Training Centre, Templemore, County Tipperary. [7265/98]

I understand from the Garda authorities that on the occasion of graduation ceremonies at the Garda college no parking facilities are available within the Garda College complex for guests of probationer gardaí who are graduating. This is made known to probationer gardaí well in advance of graduation day.

The Garda authorities have further informed me that at the graduation ceremony referred to by the Deputy one Bus Éireann coach was allowed access to the college complex. This coach was on contract to An Garda Síochána to transport the Garda Band and its equipment.
