Vol. 489 No. 1

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

106 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that no dental service is available to a national school (details supplied) in Galway city with approximately 600 pupils; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7665/98]

The provision of dental services for children in national schools in County Galway is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have been advised by the Western Health Board that it has employed a temporary dentist for the Galway area who will be taking up duty on Wednesday, 25 March 1998. The board expects that dental services to the school will return to normal soon after this date.
