Business of Dáil: Motion.

I move:

That notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders and the order of the Dáil of this day, statements on National Irish Bank shall be taken at 12.30 p.m. today and shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 2.30 p.m. today. The following arrangements shall apply: (1) Members shall be called upon in the following sequence and the statements in each case shall not exceed the times indicated — the Tánaiste, 15 minutes; the main spokespersons for the Fine Gael Party, the Labour Party and the Democratic Left Party, 15 minutes; the main spokesperson for the Green Party, ten minutes; and the Minister for Finance, 15 minutes; (2) Members may share time; (3) following the statements, the Tánaiste and the Minister for Finance shall take questions for a period not exceeding 35 minutes; (4) at the conclusion of questions to the Tánaiste and to the Minister for Finance, the Second Stage of the Tribunals of Inquiry (Evidence) (Amendment) Bill, 1998, shall resume and the proceedings thereon, if not previously concluded shall be brought to a conclusion at 4.45 p.m. today, and any division demanded thereon shall be postponed until immediately after the Order of Business on Tuesday, 31 March 1998.
