Vol. 489 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Olivia Mitchell — the urgent matter of the reported Luas underground recommendation from the consultants, WS Atkins, and the implications of this recommendation for EU funding and for the project itself; (2) Deputy Joe Higgins — the concern over the increasing trend of outside investors purchasing houses in local authority estates to be then rented with the help of health board subsidies; (3) Deputy O'Shea — the need for the Minister for Education and Science to clarify his answer to Parliamentary Question No. 155 of 26 March 1998, in relation to the discharge in full by the State of its obligations arising from the O'Donoghue High Court judgment; and (4) Deputy Jim Mitchell — the urgent need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide necessary funds to build inside toilets at St. Michaels CBS, Inchicore, as they still have only outside toilets and thus students are in danger of attack from drug addicts.

The matters raised by the Deputies Olivia Mitchell, O'Shea, Jim Mitchell and Joe Higgins have been selected for discussion.
