348 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive her compensation payment under the 1997 weather related crop losses scheme; if funding has actually been sanctioned for this scheme; and, if so, when his Department hopes to commence payments. Payments under the scheme of assistance for weather related crop losses in 1997 will commence following receipt of the necessary clearance from the EU Commission which is expected shortly and will be made only to those persons who meet the scheme criteria. Financial provision is being made for this scheme.
