456 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo to be called for surgery in view of the fact that she had to attend University College Hospital, Galway on 31 March 1998 for surgery on 1 April 1998 and, on checking with the hospital on 31 March 1998, found that there was no bed available. 457 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will address the situation wherein a person (details supplied) in County Mayo had to attend University College Hospital, Galway on 31 March 1998 for surgery on 1 April 1998 and, on checking with the hospital on 31 March 1998, found that there was no bed available. [9215/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 456 and 457 together.

The provision of medical treatment in this instance is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

458 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for treatment to Galway Hospital in view of the fact that she has been waiting since November 1994. [9216/98]

The provision of medical treatment in this instance is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
