Question:

171 Mr. Ring asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the funding sanctioned and paid from the county enterprise board to integrated resource development companies in County Mayo for each year since their inception. [9199/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 170 and 171 together.

I understand that integrated resource development companies are private sector community development bodies some of which deliver the Leader programme.

While no funding has been sanctioned and approved from my Department directly to such companies in County Mayo, I am informed that in February 1994 the Mayo County Enterprise Board approved grant of £49,365 (of which £48,121 was drawn down) for the North Mayo/West Sligo Integrated Resource Development Company in respect of the provision of food incubation units in Ballina, and in April 1994 Mayo CEB approved a feasibility study grant of £5,000 for the Claremorris and District IRD. The grant was paid in full on 3 April 1995.
