568 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will appoint a person from the film sector to the Arts Council to facilitate access to, and participation in, the audio-visual sector of the arts. [8811/98]

Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Miss de Valera)

A new Arts Council will be appointed by me this year under the provision of the Arts Act, 1951. A final decision has yet to be made about membership of the new council.
