Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

272 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the grant assistance, if any, available for deer farming; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8736/98]

Deer farming was eligible for aid under the scheme of grant aid for investment in alternative farm enterprises which operated as part of the operational programme for agriculture, rural development and forestry. The scheme closed to new applications on 4 October 1996. There are no plans at present to reintroduce the scheme.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

273 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when outstanding beef premium payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8757/98]

The person named was registered jointly with his brother under the herd number quoted until January 1998. Since then the person named is the sole registered owner.

The 1997 beef cow/suckler cow premium application form issued in the joint names and was submitted signed by the person named only. There is no record of any beef premium applications lodged under the herd number quoted in 1996, 1997 or 1998.

The post office has been unable to effect delivery of two payable orders which issued under the 1997 sheep headage scheme. My Department understands that the post office were instructed not to deliver mail in the joint names of the person named and his brother. I have asked my Department to make immediate contact with the person named with a view to having the matter clarified.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

274 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an outstanding suckler grant payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8758/98]

Maps have been received from the person concerned and the necessary digitising should be completed within the next two weeks. The processing of the area aid application will then be finalised and any outstanding payments will be issued.

[8759/98]
