Vol. 489 No. 7

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

149 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will provide details of ongoing works to be undertaken at Kilmore Quay harbour, County Wexford; the time frame for implementation of the programme; the funding which is to be made available for this purpose; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9564/98]

As the Deputy will be aware, my Department, in conjunction with Wexford County Council, has completed a major development at Kilmore Quay at a total cost of approximately £3.25 million.

I am aware that additional dredging works are needed to further improve access to the harbour. I am considering this funding requirement in the context of the current fishery harbours development programme and will announce my decisions shortly.
