Written Answers. - Schools in Disadvantaged Areas.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

82 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the outcome of the recent meeting between senior departmental officials and the north Clondalkin principals' group regarding the serious difficulties posed for these schools in serving an area that is officially designated as an area of need. [10169/98]

As the Deputy is aware, officials of my Department met the north Clondalkin principals' group recently. The principals outlined their concerns on a range of issues, including school funding and teacher provision for schools in the north Clondalkin area. My Department has undertaken to examine further the points raised at the meeting and it was agreed that further information on specific items would be forwarded to my Department by the schools concerned.
