Written Answers. - Age Discrimination.

Seán Haughey

Question:

213 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to prevent the specification of age limits for applicants in job advertisements by local government agencies. [10783/98]

At present age limits are a normal feature of recruitment in the local authority service. The whole question of age limits is being reviewed in my Department at the moment in the context of the Employment Equality Bill, 1997.
