Vol. 490 No. 7

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

227 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will have an examination carried out into the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 whose son is in need of special intensive education facilities; and if he will direct that these be provided in the special circumstances of this case. [11013/98]

I understand that the case to which the Deputy refers has not previously been brought to the attention of my Department.

I have asked the Department's inspectorate to investigate the special educational needs of the child in question and to report on the matter as soon as possible. I can assure the Deputy that every effort will be made to ensure that the educational needs of this child will be suitably catered for.
