Question:

245 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science the level of funding given to an association (details supplied); and the plans, if any, he has to increase this allocation in view of the £75,000 per annum requirement which the association has. [11169/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 51, 228 and 245 together.

In 1997, my Department allocated a sum of £24,971 to the Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities to assist in its administration services and to facilitate access by children from disadvantaged areas to the association's workshops and summer schools. My Department has received an application for an increased level of funding for the association in the current year. This application is one of a number of requests for funding currently being considered by my Department. I hope to be in a position to respond to the association's request shortly.
