152 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of applications for asylum for each month since 1992; the number of applications accepted for this period; the number of applications rejected in this period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11620/98]
Written Answers. - Asylum Applications.
The records in my Department in relation to asylum matters are not maintained in such a way as to enable the information sought by the Deputy to be extracted without the diversion of a disproportionate amount of staff resources which at this time would not be warranted. However, a breakdown of the number of asylum seekers from 1992 to 8 May 1998 is set out in the following tabular statements.
