64 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Defence if he will lift the Ministerial embargo and have the transfer authorised for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of the circumstances on file; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12526/98]
In line with the overall reduction in the size of the Defence Forces, the number of personnel attached to the Second Line Reserve will be smaller than has been the case in the past. In the circumstances, applications from PDF personnel wishing to transfer to FCA units cannot be approved unless there are vacancies in such units under the revised organisation structure.
The individual concerned last applied for transfer in 1996 but could not be facilitated at that time. Should the individual now wish to make an application for transfer it will be given due consideration.
