Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Control of Farm Pollution Scheme.

Ulick Burke

Question:

121 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will reintroduce the control of farmyard pollution scheme in order to increase the uptake of participation by farmers in this scheme particularly in the severely disadvantaged areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12838/98]

Michael Ring

Question:

132 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when he will reintroduce dairy hygiene grants and the control of farmyard pollution grants. [12882/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 121 and 132 together.

There are no funds available to reopen the control of farmyard pollution scheme or the dairy hygiene scheme at this stage. The position on overall funding under the Structural Funds is being kept under constant review and in the event that additional funds become available as a result of decommitments on projects in the Community Support Framework, I will be pressing that these schemes be given priority in the distribution of such funds.
