Vol. 491 No. 6

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Sargent.

I ask that the business of the House be suspended in accordance with Standing Order 31 to allow time for a debate on the mismanagement of the nuclear plant at Dounreay in Scotland where it has been discovered that 170 kilos of weapons grade uranium, material which is supposed to be heavily guarded, has been missing, and the need to establish that Britain's nuclear industry is accountable to all of us likely to be affected by such mismanagement.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
