Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ulick Burke — the basis for the costings of £40 million for flood alleviation in south Galway and the failure of the Minister of State at the Department of Finance to launch the consultant's report at a public meeting in Gort and to consult with the local drainage committee prior to its publication; (2) Deputy Broughan — an géarghá atá ann le meánscoil nua lánGhaelach in oirthuaisceart Bhaile Átha Cliath; (3) Deputy Brian Lenihan — the issue of special educational needs for autistic children and, in particular, the future of Beechpark special school, Stillorgan, County Dublin; (4) Deputy Lawlor — the possibilities for increasing the pressure on the new regime in Indonesia in relation to vindicating the basic human rights of the people of East Timor, now that President Suharto has departed; (5) Deputy McCormack — the Office of Public Works report on the flooding problem in south Galway; (6) Deputy Shatter — the circumstances which resulted in a person (details supplied) being dismissed from the Army and the need to publish a report detailing the reasons for his dismissal, having first given him an opportunity to consider and respond to the reasons given; (7) Deputy Bradford — the need to provide a permanent school extension at Rathcormac national school, County Cork; (8) Deputy McGinley — the urgent need to have residential care facilities for the elderly on Arranmore Island, County Donegal; (9) Deputy Moloney — the need to designate Portlaoise as a centre for further decentralisation of Government offices; (10) Deputy Ring — the need for the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to confirm the funding or assistance she will give to the cable car project on an offshore island in County Mayo; (11) Deputy Allen — the threat to the future of Gaelscoil An Ghoirt Álainn, Cork, in view of the fact that the school authorities have been informed that the gaelscoil will be evicted from its current rented premises next month if a decision is not given regarding the provision of accommodation for the school; (12) Deputy Flanagan — the incidence of hepatitis A in primary schools and the need for action thereon; (13) Deputy Rabbitte — the reasons given by a member of the Insurance Ombudsman Council for his resignation from the council and the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the steps she has taken to satisfy herself as to the veracity of these reasons; (14) Deputy Timmins — the provision of an ambulance service for Arklow, County Wicklow; (15) Deputy Deenihan — the increase in the incidence of brucellosis in north Kerry and the need to intensify efforts to control and eradicate the disease in that area; (16) Deputy Michael D. Higgins — the reply to Question No. 66 of 7 May 1998 by the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands regarding the making of an order under section 4(7) of the Broadcasting Act, 1993.

The matters raised by Deputies Shatter, Ulick Burke and McCormack, Michael D. Higgins and Bradford have been selected for discussion.
