236 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the amount of land purchased in each county by non-nationals; and the nationality of the purchaser for each of the years 1988 to 1997 inclusive. [13094/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the folios in the Land Registry and the abstracts in the Registry of Deeds contain particulars of ownership but they do not include information relating to the nationality of the owner. Accordingly, it is not possible to provide the information requested by the Deputy.

I understand the information sought by the Deputy may be available from the Department of Agriculture and Food and he may wish to raise the matter with it.
