Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

321 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will confirm approval of funding for the replacement of worn out carpeting at St. Joseph's national school, Clondalkin, Dublin 22; if he will confirm that he is considering further funding for improvement to the school toilets and the refurbishment of the heating system in the school which needs to be upgraded before the commencement of the new school year in September 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13117/98]

The manager of St. Joseph's national school, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, applied to my Department for grant assistance towards the cost of a range of improvement works at the school, including the works to which the Deputy refers.

The school manager was advised in February 1998 that the work to the heating system would be considered in light of future capital allocations. My Department's Building Unit will be in touch with the school regarding the other improvement works for which grant aid was requested.
