Vol. 491 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Noonan

Question:

209 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress, if any, in replacing the buildings destroyed by fire at Crescent Comprehensive College, Dooradoyle, Limerick; when the project will go to tender; when a contractor will be on site; and the expected duration of the contract. [13262/98]

The planning process for the replacement classrooms at Crescent College Comprehensive is progressing. Stage Three — Developed Sketch Scheme of my Department's Design Team Procedures has recently been approved.

The design team is now preparing a combined stage four/five — detail design/contract documents and is also compiling lists of tenderers for this project in accordance with public procurement procedures.

The Deputy can be assured that it is my intention that this project will proceed to tender as soon as the architectural design process is completed and will proceed to construction at the earliest possible date.
