Vol. 491 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Jack Wall

Question:

210 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will retain a teacher at a school (details supplied) in County Kildare. [13263/98]

The seventh teaching post at the school to which the Deputy refers will be lost at the end of the current school year because the enrolment at the school declined from 215 pupils in September 1996 to 191 pupils in September 1997. The retention figure for the seventh teaching post is 215.

In light of this decline in enrolment, I regret that I cannot authorise the retention of the seventh teaching post at the school.
