Question:

124 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence if, further to Question No. 61 of 22 April 1998, there are no female commissioned officers in the FCA; and the reason those recently commissioned have all apparently left the organisation. [13215/98]

131 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence the number of females who held commissioned rank in the FCA; the dates on which they received their commissions; the number of these still holding commissions; the dates on which any of these commissions were relinquished; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 124, 127, 128, 130 and 131 together.

There are at present five female commissioned officers in the FCA and to date no female commissioned officers have left the organisation. One of these officers was commissioned to the FCA on 17 November 1996, one was commissioned on 4 August 1997, and three were commissioned on 23 November 1997.

The numbers of PDF personnel by rank serving in the FCA in a full-time capacity on 31 January in each of the years 1995 to 1997 are shown in the following tables:
