Vol. 491 No. 7

Written Answers. - Suckler Cow Quota.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

144 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive a quota from the national reserve. [13153/98]

The person named has applied for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 1998 national reserve. Following my acceptance of the recommendations of the quota review group which gave priority for the allocation of quota from this reserve to eligible applicants with low livestock units, all available quota has now been utilised by eligible applicants with less than 5.8 livestock units. As the person named already has 7.8 livestock units — suckler cow quota of six premium centers and special beef premium livestock units of 1.8 — he is not eligible to receive an allocation of quota from the 1998 national reserve.
