Vol. 492 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

168 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will sanction funding for the extension of a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the design has been submitted to his Department by the local authority. [13327/98]

I recently approved the local authority's proposal to have work commenced on a major sewerage scheme at Clare-morris. A proposal for an extension of this scheme to Gurteen-Cloonboy crossroads was recently received in my Department and is under consideration. Given the existing level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this proposal.

Question:

169 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make a statement on an application by South Dublin County Council to have the Camac in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, considered for funding so that necessary remedial works can be carried out to the river; and when a decision might be taken on the matter in view of the serious flooding problem associated with this river. [13373/98]

A preliminary report for Phase 2 of the River Camac improvement scheme has been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this proposal.
